When Rudi Koppen started Wrightwood Carpet & Flooring over 40 years ago, all he had was a dream, $150 in his pocket, and a deep belief in doing things the right way. Today, that small beginning has grown into a trusted, family-run business that’s become a cornerstone of the Wrightwood community.
From Humble Beginnings to a Hometown Staple
Rudi got his start in the flooring trade at just 19 years old, working in Hollywood and Beverly Hills before moving to Wrightwood in 1982. With only a small showroom and a few carpet samples, he launched Wrightwood Carpet & Flooring. His very first customer still remembers the job—and she’s still a fan today.
What started as a one-man operation has grown into a tight-knit team that includes long-time employee Eric Bishop and Rudi’s son, Ryan. It’s still a true family business, with Rudi personally handling everything from the initial consult to the final install.
